Berowra Cricket Club will create history by becoming the first HK&HDCA Club to have two teams compete in an A Grade Grand Final this weekend. This comes after both teams finished level on 77 competition points, 22 points clear of our nearest rivals, and with only quotient separating the sides.
As a Club, we are incredibly proud of this feat which is arguably our greatest on-field achievement in our 100+ year history.
19 members of our A Grade squads are BCC Juniors, including a 14yo who top scored in the Maroons’ Semi Final victory and the Whites (Minor Premiers) entire matchday squad.
Whilst unofficial, we believe we have done enough to secure our 5th Club Championship in 7 seasons, which is a reflection of the contribution of every single player across all our senior teams.
We also have B Grade & C4s playing Grand Finals this weekend as B1 look to set another association record for our Club and C4 look to secure the only premiership we are yet to win.
A brief summary of selected recent achievements:
• This will be Berowra CC’s 7th A Grade Premiership in 8 seasons.
• This will be Berowra CC’s 11th A Grade Premiership, seeing us standalone as the most successful Club in HK&HDCA history.
• This will be Berowra CC’s 9th A Grade Premiership since 2000, also making us the most successful Club this turn of the century.
• This season, Berowra CC made the Cricket NSW Community Cup T20 competition Semi Finals, defeating the reigning Western Zone champions, a Shires team and losing narrowly by 3 runs to the reigning Newcastle District champions.
• In 2022, Berowra CC became the first Club to field 2 teams in the A Grade competition. We standalone as the only club to field 22 players in an A Grade match (the other Club could only muster 18).
• In 2022, Berowra CC won our 8th B Grade premiership, seeing us the joint most successful Club in the history of this competition. A win this weekend will send us outright first.
• In 2021, Berowra CC won our 10th A2 premiership, making us the most successful Club in the history of this competition.
• In 2019, Berowra CC became the first Club to secure the A Grade, A2 and B Grade premierships in a season. Unfortunately we lost the B2 final that year, but won C Grade.
• In 2019, Berowra CC became the first Club to secure the ‘A Grade & A2 double’ in consecutive seasons.
Dozens of people deserve recognition, from our Committee, Life Members, Volunteers, Sponsors, Parents & Players, but you all know who you are and what you have contributed to our great dynasty.
On behalf of the BCC Committee, we would like to invite all members of the BCC Community to join us this weekend celebrating another momentous occasion in the Club’s history.
