C3 was a mixture of youth and experience with a view to offer some of our younger players the opportunity to mature in Senior cricket and progress their journey up the grades.
This formula proved successful for both individual players and the team as a whole with the youngsters flourishing with added responsibility and putting their stamp on the competition.
Matt Clayton, Tommy Steele, Tyler Truskett-Jones, Dylan Tait and Wajeeh Khan all provided outstanding individual performances throughout the season. Nathan Adams’ performance with the ball saw him move to B grade and ultimately finish up in a Premiership winning side.
These performances enabled C3 to finish the season as Minor Premiers in an evenly matched competition and had us well placed heading in to the finals series.
Unfortunately ill timed injuries to Rob Mooney and Gavin Lewis meant we lost some vital experience from the line up for our semi final. However the team banded together and despite batting almost all of day 1 in the rain still posted a competitive target for the opposition.
It is testament to growth of the younger players that we were able to push the opposition the whole way through the match finishing 2 wickets and one and a half overs away from a spot in the GF whilst defending a score that was 20 runs short.
A huge shout out to the older guys in the team who continually encouraged and supported the younger players right through the season.
